When one has no extra cash to grab a hot chocolate and a hot seat in a much craved-for airport cafe, the best way to keep himself/ herself busy is to hide in a bookstore. Act busy, as if you are seriously contemplating which magazine to buy. Is Victoria Beckham with her fake boobs and fake tan more interesting or Britney Spears losing her underwear topping the gossip list more value for money? Hmmm tough choice.
While in Germany earlier this year, trying to keep myself warm and busy at the airport, that was exactly what I did. Even Kate Moss, Kate Hudson, Rihanna or Katie Holmes could not steal my attention from the naked red-head on LOVE Magazine's cover. She's huge- Fame wise I'm not sure, size wise, yes! I had no idea who she was, but whoa, that was one hell of a confident fat woman. To appear naked with all those love-handles nicely folded on your waist, arms, thighs, neck and everywhere else you call a body-part, is what I call courage. Sadly that was it. I left the country, with the store still buzzing with unwilling tourists, with the magazine still lying on the shelf, with me not knowing who that fat model was.
As I was flipping more glossies last month, I saw Karl Lagerfeld with his famous gloved-hands on the shoulder on this fat familiar-looking girl. It was Fendi O' party at Paris's VIP Room Theater. Celebrating fashion week, of course, what else do models, creative directors, socialites do? There she was, the fat woman! Haha okay okay, she's Beth Ditto, lead singer of punk indie band, The Gossip.


It's no secret Karl Lagerfeld has an eye for hot new musicians, and Ditto, an Arkansas native who's been spotted front row at several Paris shows, didn't disappoint. I love her music, I really do. Check out her music videos on youtube. I enjoy the way she worked her crowd, moving her huge body in those tiny clothes. She has attitude. It really doesn't matter if you are size 0 or 14, if you have confidence, you conquer.
Being Lagerfeld's muse has already gained her unimaginable popularity and respect. While famous creative designers indulged themselves among stick-thin models, Beth made herself a name among some.I was so surprised when I saw this.
There you have it! Marc Jacobs decided to put Beth on one of his design under his Special Collection. Those who are mocking her and calling Beth Porky, eat that!

VERY COOL. I love plus-sized individuals who are so confident of themselves. They know what they are good at and do it darn well without letting their shortcomings get them down.
